Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Slutsky has said he is proud that “I have been and will always be a reliable friend of Azerbaijani people”.
He gave a press conference at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow to comment on the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s statement after the Armenian media alleged that the Russian MP made anti-Azerbaijani remarks during his recent visit to Yerevan.
“I have made no anti-Azerbaijani statement in Yerevan. I hope that nothing will cast a shadow on the Russian-Azerbaijani relations.”
He said: “This is misinterpretation of facts and overt fabrication”.
“There are politicians in Russia who in very difficult situations proved to be real friends of Azerbaijan. I believe that their number will increase in the near future,” Mr Slutsky added./azertag/
