A book dedicated to the Azerbaijani national culture and cuisine will be published in Germany for the first time in German and English, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora told Trend on Aug. 18.
The project is implemented in cooperation with the Committee and the Congress of European Azerbaijanis. One of the well known photographers of Germany, the author of more than 40 books Barbara Lutterbek makes a variety of photos in Azerbaijan for more than 10 days and collects necessary materials for the book.
Lutterbek believes that the promotion of a culture of the country above all starts with the kitchen, as if the society faces new people, first of all they pay attention to tradition, cuisine, and lifestyle.
That's why throughout her 17-year career of a photographer she familiarized herself with the cultures of countries from Morocco to Nepal.
Lutterbek accompanied by the president of the Congress Samira Patzer got acquainted with the rich culture of Baku, Guba, Lahij, Khinalig, Gabala, Sheki, Shamakhi and other regions.
Lutterbek highly appreciated the tolerance, freedom, sincere attitude of people and hospitality. At the same time, most of all she was struck by the unity of the ancient and the modern.
"I noticed such a synthesis not only in the beauty of the cities, but also in the people and nature. Watching people, I see that they are very modern, but at the same time committed to the traditions, to their families," said Lutterbek.
It's necessary to note that this book will have photos and brief information on Azerbaijani history, culture, traditions, cuisine, as well as methods for the preparation of some Azerbaijani dishes. It is expected that the book will be published by the end of this year, and the presentation will be held in Germany and Azerbaijan.
